A single silhouette illumined on a hardened dance floor
She’s been swaying to the beat since she walked in the door
An entry, into another life
Innocent Miss by day, party fiend by night
Using every drink to forget every sin,
But the dancing blinds you to how long it’s been

Today you arrive at the club in record time,
The day was just a hassle and it’s time to unwind
Using that excuse works awfully well,
But you were here the day before and the bouncer can tell
Leave all your cares checked at the door with your coat
Chasing folly as hobby, all off on your own
The beat of the music drowns out all the noise
From a life that you say wasn’t even your choice

Another glass tilts and empties into your throat
Wash away your life with a Jack and a Coke
But remember when you’re dancing to that hypnotizing beat
There’s no one to catch you when you fall off your feat
Another strap falls and dresses drop from your hips
Pour a little more alcohol past your lips
The urge comes to feel something real
And you grab the closest man that your hand can feel
And this guy, just an indiscriminate prick
Maybe you’ll feel something when you’re sucking his dick

Party fiend by night, will bleed into day
Can’t find something to grab as its all fading away
One night of pleasure, and then you’ve had your fill
Still feeling numb and never fulfilled
Until the next night, when you want something real
Then you’ll grab for a another hand,
 that you won’t even feel.

Grab your coat as you leave the dance floor
Your cares left stranded as you walk out the door
The beat still echoing inside of your ears,
Lingering while a dirty cab slowly appears
In an attempt to escape you arrive at your home,
But the smell of death still permeates everything you own
The funny thing is, you’ve left the club
But inside your heart still feels awfully numb
You’ll swear that you don’t want it all any more,
But you’re still grinding to the beat on the hardened dance floor

Good stuff Andy!  We haven't had our dose of your pwnage as often lately, so I was really happy when I saw that you posted this.

Kind of reminds me of "Thrash Unreal" by "Against Me!", good stuff.

I made an effort to improve this one from what i had. it was considerably shorter when i first wrote it. I get lazy sometimes in my writing, but ever since i took that poetry class last semester, im more aware of what i can do to make my shit better, so im trying to implement it. It doesnt really help that this is the first thing i have written since april though. :/

Lol, this poem has some interesting irony associated with it  now.
