I cut myself twice the wounds run deep,
Thrice swipes the blade and I can feel the pain,
I draw it once more to numb the memory of a time when I was afraid
I fear it’s in me, and won’t go away
But most I fear what it’s doing to my mind
Finding solace in such a sin,
Destroys my body from within
And every day I chose not to,
Still remains the thoughts of what I can do

Scabs heal over, and scars fade away
But when I’m alone, I’ve nothing to say
The dull sound of metal, against my skin,
Is something to numb the pain within
But each day I pass, with so much remorse,
Is one more day than I can afford
When the scabs heal, the pain feels so minute
But each scar fades, and I’m no more soothed

My scabs heal away, and the scars will fade,
But I’m still reminded of the pain of a blade
And the trouble it causes against my skin,
So I leave it behind with all the places I’ve been,
And as I walk away, from the mess that I’ve changed
I feel some regret from feeling so strange,
Cutting numbs the pain from within,
But it cannot take back, what I felt back then,
And still feel now, though I fight it
And I know that to move on,
I have to take forward steps.

Interesting poem, I like the last verses a lot.  I did like the parts about the scars but the imagery is a bit overused these days, what with the razer blades and whatnot.  Cliche to an extent.

like this

...wow.  LMFAO.  Kag I think you just made forum history, that's the funniest damned thing ever.  lol.  oh god my sides!!!!!!!!

well, i cant see the image you posted, so i guess ill just miss out on the joke.

and in response to how everyone reacted (as i assumed they would) this is not an attempt to be emo, nor should the idea of committing suicide (see my poem The Passing of Nikolaus) or cutting oneself be sold solely to "emo" kids. its real, and it happens. the whole point of the piece was to show internal questioning and progress, and as i usually get my inspiration from something in real life, please show some respect towards people who have issues involving these things, the more you make fun of these people, and the more you generalize, the more you ostracize them, and the more you isolate their feelings.

I'm not questioning the validity of the act or your intentions, I'm just saying that the topic is over used.  Kind of like marijuana and abortion in debate papers.

the topic, imo, is only overused if it is used in the same stance everytime. i felt that i did not do the same thing as others, thus am not falling into the cliched' act of "cutting oneself". also, it wasnt about the act, like i said, it was about the intentions and journey, just a way in which i felt that i diverged from the "norm"

No need to get defensive bro just giving my crits.  It's not like it's the most cliche thing ever but it isn't the most original of topics, that's all.  And c'mon, that emo kirby is hysterical.  you gotta admit lol.
