Review: The Angelic Process - Weighing Souls With Sand

http://www.myspace.com/theangelicprocess

This is possibly the most bizarre band I have found to date, but definitely one of the better ones.

I would best describe the genre as "Ambient Metal" but this band is very hard to put in a box like that. One of my first impressions when i first heard them was "Holy shit did they ever have crap production on this!". But the more I listened, the more i saw that it was intentional, and with out all the fuzz, the music wouldn't have the same effect. Sadly this project has been pretty much terminated due to the drummer/guitarist/sampler/vocalist having broken his hand so badly he needs two years of surgery.
Instrumentals: 9
Lyrics: N/A (What little there is is in swedish, and hard as fuck to find lyrics for.
Vocals:7
Replay Value: 8
Overall:8

The album flows very well, and it is easy to just drift along as the music carries you and just lose yourself. Having played it walking home from school I have completely tuned out for over half an hour and been surprised when suddenly I was at my doorstep, wondering when that happened.

The album is solid through and through, and though the lyrics are indecipherable, the use of vocals as accents is done very artfully and powerfully.

This album speaks for itself, go download or buy it, but give it at least a couple listens, its very thought provoking stuff.

So far, I really like what I hear.  It's like... Metal-Techno-Symphony-Orchestra... or something.  I'll have to give it some more in-depth listens in the near future.

lol yeah I couldn't imagine trying to review this... l'm really enjoying it so far though, it's a really neat unique sound, like something from an epic demon movie or something.  I love the way the vocals are just vocals basically, ambiance only, it really makes an awesome atmosphere.

This is really fucking bizarrely awesome. I'm sure mr musicman and mr yoggi will shoot me in the face for saying this, but the closest musical equivalent in my estimation would be non-pop nine inch nails (his non or minimalist vocal songs). I definately hear it especially in songs like "million year summer".

Good fucking stuff, thanks yoggi

Yeah like, something happens and you just BAM can't play music anymore.  Seems strange.
