Straight Line Stitch
I recently saw DevilDriver and 36 Crazyfists, who rocked-- lots of crowd surfing and huge pits, as expected.

...but I was very impressed by the starting band, Straight Line Stitch.  They have a black chick with 3-foot-long bright blue dreadlocks as their singer... quite an awesome spectacle, and she was a really cool chick and the whole band put on a great performance.  She sounds a lot like Kittie's singer when she sings, but has a really low screaming voice for a girl.  The vocals are really what bring it out for me, she has such an angelic voice, yet such a vindictive one. The music has some great underlying guitar work in the background, and then they have all the good chuggah chuggah stuff that makes it metal, of course Smiley

Small | Large

(Straight Line Stitch - Remission) Her dreads are red here, you can see her 360'ing them all crazy-like, that was really awesome to see live, haha.

Since the songs are on an EP the quality is a bit low, so be forgiving in that respect.  Check out the official myspace (http://www.myspace.com/straightlinestitch) for more music off of the album, the six songs on it are quite good for a first EP.

I can't say i really liked the chicks voice. It seemed kinda awkward in the clean parts and her voice was almost nasally, to my ears at least. The music itself wasn't bad though.
