I am sorry to bump an old review, but I've had a recent experience that has completely remade this movie for me. BluRay DVD.

It was recently my birthday and my inlaws bought me a 40GB PS3. My brother in law also got me the remote and 300 in BluRay.  This movie was filmed actually filmed in high def and the resultant translation to Bluray DVD is so amazing because of it that this becomes a whole new experience for home theatres. Because this movie was so amazing in BluRay, I had to see if this level of awesomenosity was due to BluRay or the filming and translation from High Def rushes, so I ran out and bought The Golden Compass in BluRay. It was good, but it could not hold a candle to 300.

I am very anxious for the next bluray movie I can buy that was filmed in High Def. In fact, I may even buy starwars for the first time ever in my life if it's out because I know it was filmed in High Def.

Bluray pwns man, grats on the awesome experience!  Now you just need a 120hz television-- if you haven't seen one yet, go to Circuit City or Best Buy and ask them to show you one with a Bluray movie in it.
