Well, it looks like we have a new Mummy movie on our hands, to be released August 1st.

The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor
I've always liked the Mummy movies, even though the Scorpion King had a terrible ending sequence--I've never been sure why they thought it was a good idea to have a CGI Scorpin/The Rock monster instead of just having the actual "The Rock" as the final fight... oh well.
At any rate, this new movie looks do be done very much in the spirit of the old films, the only downside I've seen so far is that Rachel Weisz is not returning to play Evy-- something to do with too much other crap on here plate:
The Oscar winner has dropped out of The Mummy 3, according to TMZ.com. Weisz is said to be juggling four competing projects, as well as her infant son, so the Rob Cohen-directed sequel to the series that made her a box office star took a backseat to those other considerations.
I do know, however, that she didn't drop the film because she didn't think it would be good. Weisz expressed interest in returning to the role, initially. So that's good, since it means she didn't drop it because she thought it would suck too much. Plus, Mario Bello is playing the new Evy character, and Bello is a really great actress so I'm sure it will work out.
