The new Dimmu Borgir album "in Sorte Diabloli" (By The Choosing Of Satan translated) will be coming out this year. So far it is planned to be a concept album around a story: (from wikipedia and Dimmu Borgir's website) "There's this dude that works as a priest's assistant, and after a while he just discovers that he has nothing to do with Christianity. He just sort of has this awakening and realizes that he has different abilities and different powers and is leaning more to the dark side".

For those that don't know, Dimmu Borgir is a Norwegian Symphonic Black Metal Band that has been around since 1993. By Black Metal standards, they are incredibly mainstream, and have become accused in recent times of being sell outs just because their music is drawing in listeners from outside the black metal scene.

While this album sadly won't include my favorite drummer  of all time, Nicholas Barker, Hellhammer of the notorious black metal band Mayhem (if i feel like it I'll post their history, its pretty weird, including suicide and cannibalism) will be filling the gap. Hellhammer is also an incredible drummer, and has already shown his work on the re-recorded Stormblast (2005).

From Dimmu Borgir's website (http://www.dimmu-borgir.com/):

"In Sorte Diaboli" will be available in North America on April 24 in two different formats: a jewel-case CD and a limited edition digipak (incl. bonus DVD, same content than the European DVD version). The North American bonus track will be on both versions.

The complete track listing is as follows:
01. The Serpentine Offering
02. The Chosen Legacy
03. The Conspiracy Unfolds
04. The Sacrilegious Scorn
05. The Fallen Rises
06. The Heretic Hammer (exclusive North American bonus track) (Live preview:
Small | Large
)
07. The Sinister Awakening
08. The Fundamental Alienation
09. The Invaluable Darkness
10. The Foreshadowing Furnace

The album is set for release to North America April 24th of this year, so not long to wait! I'm really looking forward to this latest installment in Dimmu's longstanding and prolific run as one of the leading black metal bands.

Update: Release Date, Track Listing
Update 2: Added Link to The Heretic Hammer

Great post Yoggi, I can't wait for the new Dimmu Borgir shit to come out!

Hey man, you want to be a staff member for the music section?  I need to re-visit the staff members anyway, since none of them but me do anything these days Smiley  (DJ POST MORE PORN, GAMDOL BE ANGRIER)
