OK this will be my first time building a computer. I've gotten tired of getting computers from stores and settling. I'm still putting together the money (only another $800 to go LOL)but i have everything planned out. I'm looking for thoughts, ideas, warnings, and tips lol. I've found a shitload of guides out there that help clear a lot of things up for me but i still figured I'd ask you guys. some personalized help never hurts lol. At the moment(since im still hoarding cash) im looking for help with potential hardware incompatibility and ideas or builds i might have overlooked (IE: cpu is the same but clocked lower so paying 100 extra for it is stupid, that motherboard wont work with any of that you idiot, etc lol). in the future ill probably be back to ask for help or advice for when im actually building the damned thing lol. here's the basics: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835109021http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813188049http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820145236http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115202please feel free to tell me something is a completely retarded idea. just tell me why and how to improve it, thanks guys. edit: removed extra heatsink LOL

the first and second link are the same. I've never used EVGA so dont know much bout em. Love Corsair. If you are planning on running multiple vid cards I would consider getting a higher wattage psu.

First off (Stopped after 2nd link) if you're going to drop a pretty penny on a mobo go for the new Asus. Uh, what parts do you plan on salvaging from ur current rig, I dont think you're going to need a) new psu b) 2 cpu coolers? ..... wait you know wut ** you should email or call me all spec's dude and i'll help you get le bang fer ur bux.
but 2 pnts for knowing compatibility between cpu fan&socket on le mobo.

Just FYI, after-market CPU cooling is really over-rated. Stock CPU cooling works fine and I've done up to 1gz overclocks on stock cooling on certain processors.
If you aren't going to be overclocking, you definitely have no need for an after-market heatsink / fan. The last like 5 machines I've built have had stock cooling, because it's just not worth the extra pain in the ass or money to have after market cooling on your processor. It's really quite pointless unless you're planning to OMFG WTF OVERLCLOXXZORSZ your CPU.

i put a second heatsink by accident instead of the cpu. since im on the internet right now, i already have a monitor, mouse and keyboard so that would be a waste of cash. i'm keeping my current graphics card since its already pretty good, and I haven't decided on a case yet. just that im getting a full tower, so thats why its not on there.

That book that I linked is pimp, and is basically the thing I read to learn everything about computers in ze 80s. If you don't tell us what gear you currently have, we can't tell you what is good money to spend versus bad. Sure you have a keyboard, mizzouse, monitor and grafix cardz, but it could be more efficient or better for you overall if you let us know what those are. And also what you want to use your ComPutar for (and don't just say gaming). It's a completely different box to play left 4 dead 2 then to play whatever the next farcry is. Video / sound editing vs gaming, etc...
What about hard drives? OS? There's a lot to consider, and right now full tower should be the last thing you should be thinking about.

k um, i have a syncmaster px2370 23 inch led monitor. um a razer mamba wireless mouse, and some cheapo logitech keyboard. my current comp is a xps 420 with 3 gb of ram, a intel q6600 quad core and a BFG NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260 OC MAXCORE 55 896MB. my harddrive is a 450gig HITACHI Deskstar T7K500. the psu is a thermaltake tr2 rx550(550w lol) i dont do any sort of editing or anything like that so i dont need anything that does that. um, im basically trying to build a gaming comp that i wont have or want to overhaul for awhile, excluding occasional videocard swaps.so yeh when crysis 2 comes out i want to be able to run it decently at least.i dont plan on doing any SLI either. overclocking is over my head, if i decide to do anything like that ill head to cranks house lol

I love evga boards and video cards so good pick there. But if I were doing a build right now I would get somethign that would support faster DDR3 memory as well as a board with USB 3.0... especially for the price you listed...

Also... just ask Gam... you're going to want some thermal compound http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835100007I would also agree with Will that you don't need to buy another heatsink. Drop the CPU cooler, get a cheaper mobo, and spend that savings on 8GB of faster DDR3 memory.

1600 is fine. Its probably the more common one... I was just saying what I would do if I was building a new pc right now. Since you aren't really going to be overclocking or changing BIOS settings or anything you might just want to find a motherboard you like, find what speeds it supports and get the fastest ram you can afford... that's all.
