I Love You, Man I just saw this the other day with one of my friends. This is quite possibly one of the funniest movies I have seen. It has the same feeling as the Judd Aptow movies, but his name is nowhere to be seen on the credits. It follows the path of Peter Klaven (Rudd) after he proposes to his girlfriend Zooey (Rashida Jones, aka Karen from The Office) and realizes that he has no "bro friends." Enter string of man-dates, and hilarious small roles by his brother and father. Jason Segel (Sydney Fife, Peter's friend) is good in a role that is similar to Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but different enough to avoid being stale. Paul Rudd never really pops into my mind when i think comedy (except in Forgetting Sarah Marshall) but he has some pretty hilarious moments in this movie, and i think we can all relate to the awkward things he says when he gets nervous/out of his element. Segel's brutal honesty in parts is a refreshing "rant" on some of the stupidity of everyday lives, and it feels like he just flows in this character. Also, it goes beyond the stereotypical "straight man/funny man comedies we have all seen. On a much smaller scale, i would compare him to Micki Rourke's performance in The Wrestler, concerning his ability to come off as the character and not the actor playing him. Probably the one thing that stands out about this movie to be is the collaborative effort by the entire cast to contribute hilarity to the movie. The laughs don't stay within the main characters only, and everyone pulls their weight. Probably the best example is John Favreau's character. He is a small part in the movie, but he and his wife contribute to the laughs all throughout, and provide a nice refresh whenever the "action" starts to get even the slightest bit tedious. Which reminds me of another strong point in the movie: it doesn't leave characters behind. Everyone is integrated into the movie equally, and the only two that seem to have more screen time are Rudd and Segel. Whenever you start getting wrapped up in the dynamic of one character, the movie brings in another one you almost forgot about. I had the theater to myself (along with my friend) but i don't think that has anything to do with me literally laughing out loud numerous times during this movie. I never had a gut-clenching laugh, but ultimately i think that benefits the movie's style of "quick-jab" laughs and awkward scenarios. The movie knows what it is, and never takes itself too seriously, or tries to define itself as a comedy by relying solely on laughs and jokes. All in all, a really funny movie, with some interesting commentary into life and relationships and definitely worth seeing again. -War

Hell yeah-- this movie was fucking awesome. I saw it with Rauleen and it was fucking HILARIOUS. Not quite as good as Forgetting Sarah Marshall, but definitely funnier. Good review, great work thar Andy. One thing, though: Paul Rudd never really pops into my mind when i think comedy WHAT?! He's in all of these movies, man. 40 Year Old Virgin, Knocked Up, Role Models, etc. etc. etc. etc. He's a great actor and extremely funny. If you haven't seen him in "The Shape of Things" with Rachael Weisz, you totally should. Great movie... kind of fucked up, too. Also, OMG you used the FTP account that I made for the staff! Good job!

I applaud thee for the good review. This movie was amazing. So many funny scenes. The beer competition was epic. I can't wait to get the DeeVeeDee.
Tag line: Paul Rudd. Jason Segel. Awesomeness Ensues. (Will may be (will be) the only person that gets that)

This movie was total shit. Half the scenes my brother and I just looked at each other and asked if it was still going on. It felt like watching the "deleted scenes" of another movie. Really not funny. Horribly disappointed.
Premise is dumb. Paul Rudd is nervous about finding a dude to hang out with? Only makes sense if he is trying to fuck him. Just ridiculous. I had a hard time with the concept through the whole movie. People don't get nervous about hanging out with friends. That's why they are your friends, because you feel comfortable around them. I don't know just to me it seemed dumb.
Oh and did I mention it wasn't funny? Yes. There were a couple of times when I laughed. But for a 90 min movie if I am only laughing for like 3 min that does not make it a funny movie. I wish I could articulate my disappointment better but I really just didn't like this movie.
