Bleed the Sky - Paradigm in Entropy

Lyrics: 6
Vocals: 8
Instrumentals: 8
Replay Value: 7
Overall: 7
Summary: Fucking angry, gradually slowing and becoming more soothing and melodic as the CD progresses toward the end.  An excellent listen the whole way through with no "filler" tracks.

I recently found out about an awesome little band known as Bleed the Sky.  Apparently, they released thier debut CD "Paradigm in Entropy" sometime in 2005, but I never heard about it.  So, I'm a little late on the uptake-- since the music section is starving for content, I'm just going to review some of my recent favorite CDs to get the ball rolling.

I stumbled upon Bleed the Sky accidentally when searching for the group Revielle's album, entitled "Bleed the Sky".  What a pleasent surprise it was!  It's metal at it's best (more specifically nu-metal/metalcore, etc.).

The vocals and instrumentals on the CD start off very hard, angry, the usual, but they really grab you. The vocals definitely bear some similarities to Strapping Young Lad at times, but not in a bad way.  The vocalist has his own style, it just bears a resemblance to SYL.  The band also shows some industrial influence.  Very spiteful, yet at times, soothing and melodic.

Instrumentally, the band has an interresting combination of the guitar-solo-lacking nu-metal style, and the styles of older metal.  You might hear 3/4 of a song with straight, hard, rocking-- then occassionaly it rips into some amazing choppy stutter, followed by some very respectable guitar solos, which display the artists' technical skill quite nicely.  The end of the song Minion is a great example of this.

Key tracks include the single/opening track, Minion, The Martyr, and the amazing closing track Borrelia Mas.

Memorable lyrics:

    * "The crime is that you've failed in recognizing // the heart you broke // the life you stole" - Minion
    * "There is no god, only me..." - The Martyr

I recommend this CD, a great listen.

Thanks, Taco!  I'm glad you liked the CD-- it's really good and I hope that some more people find out about them soon.  I've got a new album from another unknown artist that I'll be reviewing soon, too.
