I've been really sick all week, so I didn't get the chance to pick up the new Metallica album, Death Magnetic, until today.  Please excuse my tardiness.

Review: Metallica - Death Magnetic
I was really worried with this CD because the single, "The Day That Never Comes" was pretty good, but nothing fantastic or anything.  The bad reception of St. Anger--which was an awesome album, you hater-morons--was something I was worried might scare the band back into emulating their older sound.  Plus, the single does some lame rhyming, and I was worried that would carry over as well.

Holy crap, was I wrong.
I don't care if you hate Metallica.  Go listen to it.  GLORIOUS.  "The Day That Never Comes" is okay but isn't worth 1/10th of the rest of the songs on the album.  It really serves its purpose as a sort of training song, but can't come within miles of the simply amazing tracks that fill the rest of the CD.

The first song was great and by the second song, "The End of the Line" I was flipping out and jizzing uncontrollably in all directions.  I mean, there is no staleness here, like "The Day That Never Comes" might suggest there would be.  The rest of the CD so far (I've gotten through the first 6 songs) has been 100% epic, through and through.

Every track is this brutally fast, in your face awesomeness, but they have somehow avoided sounding 80's "thrashy" entirely.  The whole album sounds like some kind of wicked combination of Load, St. Anger, the Black Album, and this amazing sort of new-age speed metal that tributes their older work but does not borrow from it--not in the least.

I don't think I could possibly be happier with the way this album turned out, and all of my fears about it not living up to what it should have been are completely BLOWN AWAY.  I am so glad that this is an album that stands on its own and really delivers, song for song, consistently.

For all you Metallica bashers, yeah, whatever, it's "cool" to hate on Metallica, you're so trendy.  /puke.  You know who you are.  Seriously give this album a listen it's absolutely fantastic and if you can't appreciate the work then I seriously think you are kidding yourself because you are too afraid to admit how fucking awesome it is.

PURE. FUCKING. EPIC. OWNAGE.

Buy it.  Now.

i listened to 2 minutes then got bored and went back to other things.
To clarify, i really don't like metallica, and it sounded exactly like generic metallica

Someone's a fanboi. Disliking a band is trendy?  Coming from someone with more taste in new age metal, then Michael Jackson's kiddie obsession ? ITS OKAY IF METALLICA DOES THRASH CUZ I USED TO DATE JAMES N LARS. Srsly Will, you should face it and get off their nuts. Yes Metallica has Talent but the album is bad, only  but with a good intention. Their time was due decades ago.

"/puke"   LOL,as of right now, I totally  see you being a 5 year old girl motioning ur finger down your throat over some rude comment a boy made about bugs. Or a girl in the Little Rascal's scene.  All in all, good review (with bad content), but it's okay Will, I seriously think they're all married by now, you stop being their groupie. When you do this, and know you have no chance being Mrs. Hetfield, maybe write another review? Kay, well I'm out, but I'll be back when Slipknot or someone comes out with a new band, to hear JUST HOW TOTALLY AWESOME IT IS.  Srsly GTFO, NOMNOMZ

I have started to listen to this album, and I do like Metallica, but I'm not enjoying this album all that much. I keep giving it a go though.

I'm just not a big metallica fan willy, I listened to this a day or two ago in full and then deleted it. Still metallica, still don't like metallica, oh well. Yes, i like the old metallica better than the newer lamer version, but i still don't even like that very much.
What i don't understand why is disliking a band has to be because it's trendy to dislike them, maybe it's trendy because they're just not that good?

Also, crank's not being hostile, the caps and crazy shit means he's drunk and messing around.

And the cover is very vagina-esque.

I called it trendy because people hate on Metallica for the same reasons that they hate on Limp Bizkit.  "Oh, their first CDs were good but now they just sold out, bla bla bla".  Change is good sometimes.  Especially when your early works, good as they are, are somewhat shallow (this mostly applies to Metallica not Limp).

I mean, there are "changes" that are respectable to dislike, but I find that almost all people who hate on these two bands especially would actually enjoy their music, they just don't give it a fair chance.  They assume things are too "new age" or "trendy" or whatever, and don't even realize that they are just being trendy themselves.

And how is the cover "vagina esque"?

It's weird that you say that, because I listened to it in my car on CD and it sounded perfectly mastered.

But after I ripped it, the drums /bass do sound somewhat distorted at times on my headphones.  Maybe I just ripped it badly or something though, I'm not sure.

And as for limp bizkit,  used to like them, but i just got bored and they just don't do it for me. I've never liked metallica, and its made worse by their politics.
