Blizzard's Battle.net - for years, it's been the free source of some of the most played online games ever.  Diablo 2, Starcraft, Warcraft III, and the like all owe their online success to this free service.  What better time to update it than now?  With Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 on the horizon, it was only a matter of time.

With the new Battle.net, you can now manage your WoW account along with any other Blizzard games account.  The coolest feature, if you ask me, is that you can store your old Blizzard games CD Keys (like Diablo 2) online, and even re-download the game so that you will never need to look for your discs or serial key again!

This is a really fantastic addition to Blizzard's collection and will no doubt make things easier when Diablo 3 comes out.  More interesting still is their decision to implement WoW account management into this, which suggests that perhaps, someday, WoW will no longer be pay to play--perhaps a few years after they release the yet to be named "next gen MMO" that they are currently working on?

Also, when you create your account, you can select the "Beta opt-in" option to automatically submit your email address for a chance to be in whatever beta they have out at any given moment.  Pretty damned sweet, if you ask me.  Good work Blizzard.  Now they just need to make WoW PvP not terrible... ... I know, I'm sorry I brought that up, too.  Tongue

What are you waiting for? Go create your account!
