Since doing The Angelic Process review how ever many months ago, I have kept looking for another band that can come close to being equivalent. I have found that in Nadja. They are similar to a longform TAP, and longform they are indeed. This album clocks in at around an hour in 2 songs. This bands configuration is even similar to TAP's: Nadja is a duo of Aidan Baker (guitars/vocals/piano/woodwinds/drums) and Leah Buckareff (bass/vocals). Nadja began in 2003 as a solo project for Baker to explore the heavier/noisier side of his experimental/ambient music performed mainly on the electric guitar. In 2005 Buckareff joined in order to make the project more than just a studio endeavour and to allow Nadja to perform live.
How this band differs from the Angelic Process, is that instead of being a depressive, downtoned album, (to me at least) it is very uplifting. The first of the two tracks (the The Bungled & The Botched) starts off acoustically, and slowly builds up to a heavy drone riff over the course of the song before fading into an ambient soundscape over the last 5-6 minutes. The second song, (my favorite of the two) starts off with 11 minutes of ambient drone, in the vein of Sunn 0))). After the 11 minute mark, iit changes drastically, led by piano and drums through a slow building feeling of apprehension. This builds up into a full on drone peice with the occasional vocal growl to add to the atmosphere. 9/10

Oooooooh, a band like The Angelic Process, you say? Count me in. The fact that it's more uplifting than depressing is interesting as well, but I find the depression to be uplifting in a weird way, if you know what I mean.
WTB Youtube vids / songs embedded!
Also, OMFG you put it in the featured section! I'm so proud! Randomly as a side note, if you delete the "height=x" part of the code, and just leave the width as 160, it will automatically make the height proportionate when you click "save", that way the picture isn't stretched. I already did that for you. I also put the link in the music articles section.

I'll torrent it, eventually. I just got the new Walls of Jericho CD and the Acoustic one though, so I'll be devoting my attention to that first.
Yoggi sometimes I think you forget how musically inclined you are compared to most people, haha. Even I have a hard time keeping up with you, lol. Not that that's a bad thing, just requires a lot of musical attention span, I can only check out so much new material at a given time before it becomes not a fair listening session because my brain goes into lala land.

lol, precisely my point. I prefer to listen to albums as a whole and give them my complete attention, and then reflect on them. I usually listen to a given new cd for like a week before I even really listen to much else seriously.
