I saw Straight Line Stitch live at Pops nightclub earlier this week, they were awesome and Alexis's dreads hit me in the face while they were playing, so I was really close.  Tongue

Anyway, one of the opening bands was local act D-RAILED, who I was surprised to find out was the best opening act of the night.  They even gave me like 8 free tickets to see them later this month on the 27th, w00t!

They were the softest band there but they had an interesting combination of alternative and some metal screaming now and then, and they also had a very funky bass player that added some interesting sound.  My favorite song that they did was called "Your Regrets", but sadly it wasn't on the CD that I bought from them Sad  They had some other fun songs too, though, here's a video of one of them.

I've gotta say though, the videos and recordings don't do them justice.  The band had a great live presence and especially the song "Your Regrets" was done very well with some awesome feeling and I fucking loved the lyrics.  I really thought it was interesting to see a more alternatively styled band mix in bits of metal and funky bass.

I think the local scene in St. Louis is really cool, there are a lot of different bands out there, but I thought D-RAILED did a good job of not trying to sound super hardcore like the other bands that were there that night.  I mean, I'm a hardcore kid for sure, but pretense is bullshit, and there was a lot of it to go around from some of the other acts, so D-RAILED was a real breath of fresh air.
