All Is Brawl recently interviewed PC Chris (if you don't know who he is, he was very respected in Super Smash Brothers Melee and pulled off one of the biggest upsets in Melee history when he, as a relative unknown,
took a tournament from Ken's Marth with his Falco).
Chris has a lot of interesting thoughts on the characters, and feels that Meta Knight is the #1 tier in the game, and DeDeDe is #2 tier... Oddly enough, he plays Snake, go figure.

dmbrandon: First off, you've been making a huge splash in the scene, taking top 8 at every single Super Smash Bros Brawl event you've been to, in both teams and in singles. So, congratulations. How does it feel being able to travel and make money playing Brawl?
PC Chris: Haha. It's great, I mean I've experienced this with Melee but now it's a slightly new scene with new people, so it's nice to see new faces in the community, and it's always nice to win money and travel (laughter).
DM: You seem to be enjoying this. But, It's gotta be wrenching going to tournaments with everyone's expectations of you winning. Do your nerves ever get the best of you?
PC: Hmmm… Sometimes, it gets me a little nervous knowing everyone is out to get me since I was considered one of the best in Melee, but since I have a lot experience in important tournament matches in Melee, I think it passes over to Brawl. I've been able to keep my cool for the most part and perform well at all my tournaments.
DM: Now that Brawl's becoming an established tournament game, which Smash Bros game do you prefer? Why?
PC: Melee will always have a place in my heart. I still prefer it, actually, but I've played six years of Melee and I wouldn't actually say I'm bored of it, but it definitely is refreshing to play a new game like Brawl, [it brings] a whole new style and new physics engine.
DM: You're already known as one of the best players in the world, and people are already raving everywhere about this Snake of yours. Do you feel he's a candidate for top five on the tier list?
PC: Yeah. I feel like Snake definitely has a secure spot on the top five. I personally think he's second or maybe third best after Metaknight and possibly DeDeDe.
DM: MetaKnight is considered the new Shiek, given the easy learning curve, and ability to kill at low percents. As a Snake player, who would you best compare him to from Melee?
PC: Hmmm… This is a good question. It's really hard to compare him to anyone from Melee and sometimes even anyone in brawl because of his unique style. My friends and I joke that he's the new Captain Falcon because of his ability to kill so quickly, and also his manliness. LOL. So, if there's one character it'd have to be Captain Falcon.
DM: Do you think Falcon is not as Manly? He might get mad, you know.
PC: Melee Falcon is as manly as it gets! Haha, he has that new scarf in his costume in Brawl that makes him slightly less manly than Snake.
DM: I hate that scarf. It's almost as dainty as Marth's gloves, haha.
DM: Let's continue past their cosmetic failures. Besides yourself, who do you think are the best players in your state? Region?
PC: Cort and Mew2king are the players that stand out in my eyes. I'd consider them both better than me since they've both consistently beaten me in tournaments. Bum from NYC is also a great player we had a close set in our recent tournament match, and he's been the favorite to win most of the NYC weeklies. Other than those, I can't really say much. I haven't played enough players from enough regions yet to give more of an opinion.
DM: Let's jump over to the current stage crisis. Are you for or against walk-off stages?
PC: Personally, I'm against it, but I might be biased because I play Snake. Haha, I would be a little more lenient if DeDeDe's Chain Grab was a little harder to perform something more along of the lines of foxes wave shine in Melee but its much to easy to Chain Grab with DeDeDe and pretty simple to land a grab with his huge grab range.
DM: What about stages with walls?
PC: Hmmm... Same thing. LOL
DM: Haha, so any input on Fox's Shine Infinite?
PC: Yeah, there's a lot of infinites against the walls, but I think Fox's shine infinite is a lot more situational than DeDeDe's Chain Grab infinite because DeDeDe can start the Chain Grab in the middle of the stage, and carry you until he reaches the wall, and then start the infinite. Fox's shine is pretty tricky in general though. When people stall with it, sometimes it tricks me and also when they try to shine spike me, a lot of the time they miss, but since you basically move nowhere they just shine again and sometimes they end up shine spiking me on their second or third attempt. It's tricky.
DM: When you don't have another player around, which method do you prefer in practice? CPU or online?
PC: Hmmm. Probably online, just because there's not too much tech skill involved in Brawl like there was in Melee. In Brawl, it's more about spacing rather than combos, and I get better experience from that online than I do versus CPUs.
DM: Do you feel the WiFi addition will help the community grow, or is it more of a novelty?
PC: I dunno. At first, I hated WiFi but now I'm starting to realize it's better than playing CPUs for sure. I think it'll help the community grow, with allisbrawl/smashboards/ gamebattles and WiFi on Brawl, I think the community is going to be huge.
DM: Besides Smash, what are some of your favorite games?
PC: Super Mario Brothers 3, Final Fantasy X, The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, and Warcraft 3
DM: Do you have any advice to new players trying to break into the scene?
PC: Going from playing casually with friends, to trying to compete at tournaments is a pretty big step. With brawl having WiFi and plenty of tournaments popping up everywhere, it's easy to be able to join the scene. Just play as many good players as you can, and you'll progress at a good pace. Watching videos of better players and comparing it to a match of yourself can also help.
DM: Thanks a lot for joining me, PC. Any final thoughts?
PC: Haha, no problem. But, yeah, video games are supposed to be fun. Sometimes people focus so much on getting good, that they forget why they're playing the game in the first place and a lot of the time it can slow down their progress. It's fun to be a part of the smash community, go to some tournaments, make some friends and have a good time . Being a part of the community is just as good as winning a tournament sometimes.
DM: Well, thanks for joining me, be sure to keep it here at AllIsBrawl.com for more interviews, upcoming tournaments, and the newest info and competitive insight!
