It's been entirely too long since I put one of these up.  A while back when I was talking about the upcoming release of Ill Niño's new CD "Enigma"--which is out, by the way, and fantastic--I mentioned an EP that they did with a few covers on it.  One of those covers was of Peter Gabriel's "Red Rain".

If you aren't familiar with him, Peter Gabriel makes some really strange but awesome music, and is responsible for many of the trends in popular music of various genres today.  Ill Niño does a fantastic job covering the track, and they add in some of their own Latino flavor by changing up a few of the lines to Spanish.  It wouldn't be Ill Niño without that, haha.

At any rate, the music is fantastic and the addition of Latin percussion to the song really adds a unique flavor that only Ill Niño can bring, check it out.

Download
Ill Niño - Red Rain (Peter Gabriel Cover)
and make sure to pick up Ill Niño's "The Undercover Sessions EP" if you like the song, and if you aren't streaming it, please delete the .mp3 after a day so I don't get RIAA'd.  Tongue

Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me

I am standing up at the water's edge in my dream
I cannot make a single sound as you scream
It can't be that cold, the ground is still warm to touch
This place is so quiet sensing that storm

Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me

Well I've seen them buried,
In a sheltered place in this town
They tell you that this rain can sting and look down
La sangre ne está and I see no sign of pain
Hey, no pain
Seeing no rojo, I see no rain

Red rain is coming down
Red rain
Red rain is pouring down
Pouring down all over me

Putting the pressure on much harder now
Restar again and again
Just let the red rain splash you
Let the rain fall on your skin
I've come to you defences down
With the trust of a child

Red rain is coming down
Red rain is coming down
Red rain is pouring down all over me
I'm begging you

Red rain is coming down
Red rain is coming down
Red rain is coming down all over me
I'm begging you

Red rain, coming down
Red rain, coming down
Red rain is coming down all over me
I'm begging you

pretty good. very different sound fro their normal stuff. i also find it weird that they are doing covers. i have always loved ill nino's softer sound (as well as the hardest stuff) but they only have a couple of songs. this isnt quite as slow, but its pretty good.

now, if only i had a copy of their new cd/ep..........
