Waiting for stars to shine from dead bulbs
Passes the time
Staring up into the blank sky
Reveals a truth once hidden
Looking to the sky for a sign
Hope passes with the day
And fades when the sun goes beyond sight
The stars fade, and all goes away
Night embraces emptiness
A cold chill sweeps across the floor
The cold sets in
Shivering away all the reason to believe
Praying for warmth in the sheltered innocence
The stars fail to shine from the dead bulbs
The cold sets in
And consumes the setting sun
Disappearing into the horizon
Hope flees from sight
Disappeared into the horizon
The cold sets in
Consuming hope
Cold refreshed by the progressing night
Is shifted aside by the rising sun
Hope once again makes a promise
A promise of lasting warmth
Is displaced by the truth
Stars can’t shine from dead bulbs
The truth remains
And cold will return
To envelop the sun
Distinguishing warmth,
And with its promise of return
Comes the promise of a cold chill

A good little poem there, but Parkway Drive has you beat out!  It's funny that this is so similar... since I'm pretty sure you've never listened to them.  It's one of my favorites, and has a very similar theme.

Check this out:

---

Vanishing points and midnight horizons,
Herald another night.
Without you by my side.

Bring me the light,
Bring me the dawn,
Bring me another day.
But further, from your arms.

And this world is frozen,
And my limbs so numb.
Feel the Frostbite.
Exceed all hope of coming back alive.
And these roads we've chosen,
Leave our hearts so numb.
As another day,
Sets in teeth,
Ready to strike.

But there will be no dawn,
At these hours.
I find my mind,
Turns itself in circles,
Reigniting the worst of fears,
And leaving others to the cold.

Powerless.
I'm afraid to lose,
These thoughts of you.
Please leave me the scars,
Just leave me the scars.

Wake (Wake),
These are the hours left to ghosts.
These are the times,
reason fails to reach

These are the places,
For which echoes fail to return.
And Solitude runs hand in hand with,
Disaster.

And this world is frozen,
And my limbs so numb.
Feel the Frostbite.
Exceed all hope of coming back alive.
And these roads we've chosen,
Leave our hearts so numb.
So I'll salvage what little hope I can,
From the sun.

Still I'm choking on the words,
I should've said,
1,000 times.
And I'm cursing every memory,
And I'm holding on until,
There's nothing left to say.

Every scar,
Let Every scar still bare your name.
Every scar still bares an angel's face.
An angel's face.

And still I chase,
I chase the sun.

And still I chase,
I chase the sun.

Oh god, it means so much to me.  /tear /tear /tear /tear /tear  Sad  I love Parkway Drive so much.

Anyway, funny similarities.

To love music more than life itself, is such a waste, of life, and love, and hell.
Modern desires to create euphoric misery we make for ourselves.
For modern music is self-indulgent, we have always done it for ourselves.
For it is not a matter of life and death, but life only and itself.

But do you see it now that I pointed it out?  Or am I crazy?  luls.

Also, you have a knack for finding that crazy weird shit, Yoggi.  I'm intrigued, as always.

i see the connection, but i could have done the same with half a dozen (at least), other songs. The idea of cold and frost is common in metal, especially black metal.

i see that both works have a theme of cold and dawn, but they are common themes and are used pretty differently here.
