A tale told far , a tale told long Of four brothers strong Of four brothers brave Of four brothers together in the grave
It was a tale of the Wiggly clan, And the brothers four From birth they were alone And only four
Wiggly Stevens was the oldest by far, And obstinate, as most men are In his decisions he was right, and never did falter Having made up his mind, he never would alter Took to the bars, looking for fight, Took to the bars, always at night, And when a gent forced himself upon some dame Then good obstinate Wiggly Stevens, enforced his name
From across the room, there was a commotion A dame, and a gent, both locked in a motion It seemed indeed the man was bent, on bothering the lady, so away Stevens went.
Stepped in the fray to save the lass Not realizing it was her theft which caused the clash Steven’s took out his knife, to assault the gent But when reason failed, to the floor Steven’s went
By the blade of his own knife, was Obstinate Steven’s killed But also betrayed by his too stubborn will Never listened to reason, or thoughts not his own Never once considered the truth, unknown
Oh dear Obstinate Wiggly Stevens: Went to a bar, And pushed the wrong fight Got in a brawl And lost his life. Then went the line, As so it does To the next Wiggly Brother And so it was:
Brave Wiggly Sail, was the next youngest kin Raised off alone, by adventurous men When he was raised, he set his sights on the sea In search of what no one else could see “I know of a far land, where riches are bound To seek my hand, and fortunes renowned”
Crazy were his thoughts, said people all the same But brave Wiggly Sail knew his name. “I am brave Wiggly Sail, the bravest of all, And what you cannot see, I will show you all. Riches galore, and adventure to seek, I’ll show you all, and this promise I will keep.”
And so he set, on his journey far away Guided by his ship, the trusty Nora Dae But lo, did he look west, when his fear came from east, A storm brewing trouble, out in the deep
Six fathoms out, the storm he did meet When the last thing on his mind, was to retreat Brave Wiggly Sail, fought flash and boom both But both Sail and the crew, knew what was wrote
A flash in the sky, was all to explain As it struck the boat, amidst the pouring rain It struck Brave Wiggly Sail’s ship with such a crash, The mast split in two, and hit waves with a splash
It went on through the night And with the rising sun’s ray, There was not a sight Of brave Wiggly Sail, Nor his ship, Nora Dae
Brave Adventurous Wiggly Sail Fought the storm, and ended his tale Went off in search of adventures galore, But came back, dead, floating ashore
